Death of Angels
By
Nerida Marshall

In 1905, two country nurses from Queensland made the ultimate sacrifice to protect others from the deadliest outbreak the world has ever known, the pneumonic plague. Airborne, untreatable, and fatal within days, the disease was a terror of its time.

When ordered to travel by train to Brisbane, the nurses refused. Instead, they locked themselves inside their ward so the disease would die with them, choosing the safety of others over their own survival.

For more than a century, their bravery was lost to history. Death of Angels uncovers their story, an unforgettable account of heroism, sacrifice, and the quiet strength of women who changed the course of Australian history.
